Mount Pleasant, SC – November 2, 2025

The Wando High School Marching Band has been crowned the 2025 South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA) 6A State Champions, with two commanding performances at the Viking Stadium in Spartanburg, SC.

Under the direction Bobby Lambert, Lanie Radecke, and Matthew Kilby the Wando Marching Band delivered their 2025 production, “We Are Such Stuff”, earning a final score of 95.15. The show, inspired by themes of resilience and dreams of possibilities, featured intricate drill design, dynamic musical arrangements, and unparalleled visual effects that left judges and audiences in awe.

In addition to the overall championship, Wando was also earned the top score in all captions:

High Visual Performance

High General Effect

“There is truly no other band like this in the Southeast. Our students, staff, families, and administration have built something extraordinary—an experience every young musician and performer should aspire to be part of.”, said Director Bobby Lambert.

The Wando Marching Band entered their finals performance, as the winner of the Lower State Championship, after an impressive preliminary run. This marks Wando’s 16th State Title in program history, further solidifying their status as one of the elite marching programs in the country.

The Band’s success extends beyond the field. Over 180 members strong, the ensemble includes high school and middle school students, and a leadership team of Drum Majors, Olivia O’Reilly, Brian Shay, Ben Snyder, and Hanna Williams, whose poise and precision set the standard for the group. The Marching Band performs at community events, parades, for charitable organizations, and helps provide a special spark at Wando High School football games.

Wando Band Boosters President Steve Wiley praised the community’s support of the program; “From parent volunteers to local business, and individual contributors, this win reflects the incredible village who are quick to support these talented students. We’re already looking ahead to representing our community and supporters at Bands of America Grand Nationals Championship November 13-15, in Indianapolis.”.

Before traveling to perform on this national stage, the Wando High School Marching Band invites the entire Charleston County community to celebrate on Saturday, November 8, 6:00PM at CCSD District 2 Stadium. Fans will enjoy family-friendly activities, great local food trucks and vendors, and the final local performance of “We Are Such Stuff”.

Recognized nationally for excellence, the Wando High School Band program fosters musical artistry, leadership, and discipline for 250 students across concert bands, jazz band, Color Guard, Winter Guard, and marching ensembles. Learn more at www.wandobands.org.
